High Court allows Queensland prisoner’s egg-freezing appeal
Smith was serving a 10-year prison sentence for drug trafficking.
The High Court allowed Rachel Smith’s appeal against Queensland Corrective Services’ refusal to approve privately funded egg freezing in prison. It found the procedure was not assisted reproductive technology, set aside the lower courts’ orders and sent the application back for determination according to law.
