Medicaid work requirements to affect 20 million people from 2027
Adults potentially subject to the new Medicaid work mandate
Starting 1 January 2027, Medicaid work requirements will affect about 20 million people in 44 expansion states, requiring 80 hours monthly and six-month recertification. The law is projected to cut roughly $1tn in federal healthcare spending and leave about 17 million newly uninsured by 2034.
