India cracks down on Cockroach movement protests and releases leaders
India’s voter-list revision has removed more than 130000000 names since June 2025.
Authorities detained at least 3,000 people across New Delhi on October 10 as the Cockroach movement protested electoral-roll changes and demanded the chief election commissioner's resignation. More than 130 million names were reportedly removed from voter rolls, while security forces imposed extensive restrictions.
