US and Denmark sign Greenland security agreement allowing two bases
The US, Denmark and Greenland signed a security agreement in New York on September 22. It allows two new US bases, expanded activity at Pituffik, broad access for US aircraft and vessels, and restrictions on rival-country bases and sensitive investment. Denmark’s UN ambassador said it strengthens regional and NATO security.
